About the Watch
The "Moonwatch" collection from Omega is derived from the acclaimed Speedmaster Professional line, which was first introduced in 1957. One of the key innovations of this collection was the addition of a tachymeter scale on the bezel, which has now become a standard feature of modern chronographs. This unique feature played a significant role in establishing the Speedmaster's reputation as a top-tier wristwatch from the very beginning. Interestingly, the development of the Speedmaster was not initially geared towards space travel, but rather the booming motorsports industry of the mid-20th century. Luxury watch manufacturers recognized the rising popularity of high-performance racing and began incorporating chronographs into their product lines. Omega was one of these brands, and the Speedmaster was their contribution to the field of motorsports timekeeping. Despite this, the Speedmaster's reputation eventually extended beyond the racetrack and into the realm of space exploration, cementing its status as a legendary timepiece. This first edition of the Speedmaster lines' tribute to the legendary Snoopy was first released in 2003, with only 5441 pieces being produced.
About the Brand
Omega has constantly been defined by its pioneering spirit, demonstrated by its conquests of the oceans as well as space. Since 1965, the Omega Speedmaster has been worn on each of NASA's piloted missions including all six moon landings and many of history’s greatest explorations beyond Earth. Omega also has served as the Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1932. In watchmaking, Omega’s history has been dedicated to a quest for perfection. This legacy continued in 1999 with the launch of the revolutionary Co-Axial escapement and, in 2015, with the world’s first Master Chronometer. Due to being approved by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS), watches with the designation Master Chronometer can withstand a pressure of up to 15'000 Gauss.
